Echoes of Christ
A thread woven through ancient scrolls,
A promise whispered, generation to generation,
Through burnt offerings and temple veils,
The Old Testament, a grand overture.
It spoke of a seed, crushing the serpent's head,
Of a ram caught in a thicket, a substitute
For a beloved son, on Mount Moriah.
Of a ladder to heaven, angels ascending and descending,
A bridge between the divine and the dust.
The passover lamb, its blood painted on doorposts,
A shield against the angel of death, a foreshadowing
Of a greater sacrifice, a perfect, sinless one.
The manna in the wilderness, bread from heaven,
Sustaining a people, yet pointing to true nourishment.
The Law, a mirror reflecting our brokenness,
Our inability to reach His perfection.
The prophets cried out, their voices echoing through centuries,
Of a coming King, born of a virgin,
A Suffering Servant, despised and rejected.
They spoke of a covenant, new and everlasting,
Not written on stone, but on hearts.
Of a Davidic King, whose reign would have no end,
Bringing peace and justice to all nations.
And then, in the fullness of time,
The fulfillment.
Jesus, the Word made flesh.
The seed of the woman, born of Mary.
The Lamb of God, who took away the sins of the world,
His blood, the ultimate Passover.
He is the Bread of Life, satisfying every hunger,
The true temple, where God truly dwells.
His perfect life, the atonement for our imperfections,
His death, the payment for our debt,
His resurrection, the victory over death and sin.
He walked the dusty roads of Galilee,
Healing the sick, raising the dead,
Living out every prophecy,
Embodying every shadow,
Fulfilling it all on our behalf.
The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
The tapestry complete, the masterpiece revealed.
The Old Testament, a testament to His coming,
The New, a testament to His presence,
And His ultimate triumph.

Luke 24:44 (NKJV): "Then He said to them, 'These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.'"
