Exceedingly Abundantly
Reflecting God's Glory in Our Achievements
Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV):
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,"
Understanding God's Power and Glory
Ephesians 3:20 is a powerful reminder of God's incredible ability to work in and through us beyond our imagination. This verse encourages Christians to rely on God's power rather than their own, recognizing that any accomplishments come from His strength and provision.
Avoiding Boastfulness
One of the significant dangers for Christians is becoming boastful about their achievements. When we succeed, there is a temptation to take credit for ourselves and seek validation from others. However, Scripture teaches us to give all glory to God.
1 Corinthians 1:31 (NKJV):
"that, as it is written, 'He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.'"
Paul reminds the Corinthians that if we boast, it should be in the Lord. Our talents, opportunities, and successes are gifts from God, not products of our effort alone.
Giving God the Glory
Acknowledging that God is the source of our abilities keeps us humble and grounded. When we achieve something, we should direct the praise to God.
James 1:17 (NKJV):
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."
Recognizing God as the giver of all good things helps us maintain a grateful heart and a proper perspective on our accomplishments.
Living for God's Glory
As Christians, our lives should reflect God's glory. This means that our actions, words, and achievements should point others to Him, not to ourselves.
Matthew 5:16 (NKJV):
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
Jesus teaches that our good works should lead others to glorify God. When we live in a way that honors Him, people will see His power and goodness through us.
Practically Applying Ephesians 3:20
Prayerful Dependence: Regularly seek God's guidance and strength in all you do, acknowledging that without Him, you can do nothing (John 15:5).
Humble Attitude: Remember that your talents and opportunities are from God. When praised, redirect the glory to Him.
Grateful Heart: Thank God daily for His provisions and blessings, recognizing His hand in your life.
God-Centered Goals: Set goals that honor God and seek to advance His kingdom, rather than seeking personal accolades.
Let Us Live to Glorify God
Ephesians 3:20 reminds us of God's limitless power working within us. As Christians, we must be vigilant against pride and the desire for personal glory. Instead, let us live to glorify God, acknowledging Him as the source of our abilities and achievements. By doing so, we reflect His glory to the world and fulfill our purpose as His followers.
