“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.”
—2 Corinthians 1:20 (NKJV)
We live in a world full of broken promises, unstable foundations, and constant change. It’s no surprise that we sometimes lose confidence—even in God. When life gets difficult, when prayers seem unanswered, or when we feel overwhelmed by uncertainty, we often try to take control. We lean on our own understanding rather than turning to the One who holds all things in His hands.
But why do we do this? Why do we try to fix everything ourselves without going to God in prayer or opening His word?
Forgetting His Faithfulness
God has always kept His promises. From the days of Noah to Abraham, from Joseph to Moses, and ultimately in Christ, He has shown Himself to be faithful.
“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”
—Numbers 23:19 (NKJV)
His promises are not based on circumstances, emotions, or outcomes. They are grounded in His unchanging and perfect character.
Failing to Seek Him First
In moments of trial, our first instinct is often to act. We call others, search for advice, or try to solve the problem ourselves. But God calls us to a different first step:
“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
—Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)
Instead of being anxious, we are told to bring everything to Him in prayer.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”
—Philippians 4:6 (NKJV)
Prayer and God’s word should be our first resort, not our last.
Trusting Him When Life Looks Hopeless
Even when everything around us feels like it’s falling apart, God is still working. His presence doesn’t depend on our feelings. His promises don’t expire when life gets hard.
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.”
—Isaiah 43:2 (NKJV)
He never said this life would be easy. But He did promise to be with us every step of the way.
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
—Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV)
Letting His Promises Anchor Our Hearts
God’s promises give us stability and hope in an unstable world.
“This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast…”
—Hebrews 6:19 (NKJV)
What are some of His unfailing promises?
He will never leave you — Deuteronomy 31:6
He works all things for your good — Romans 8:28
He gives peace beyond understanding — Philippians 4:7
He will supply all your needs — Philippians 4:19
He is coming again — John 14:3
He is Faithful
God’s promises are not empty words. They are backed by His holiness, His love, and His eternal power. Let us not live in fear or self-reliance. Let us be people of prayer, people of the Word, and people of unwavering trust in the One who never fails.
Even when the road is rough, when the answers are slow, or when the darkness feels heavy—He is still God, and He is still faithful.
“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise…”
—2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV)
