In Romans 10:17 (NKJV), we are reminded,
"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
Faith doesn’t grow by accident. It grows when we spend intentional time hearing, reading, meditating on, and applying God’s word.
Faithfulness — staying true to the path God has given us — is directly tied to how strong our faith is. If our faith is weak, our faithfulness will suffer. We may fool ourselves into thinking we're strong, but when the trials, temptations, and pressures of this world hit us, we'll find out just how weak we are if we haven't been properly feeding and strengthening our souls.
James 4:7 (NKJV) tells us,
"Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you."
Yes, we can resist Satan! But we must have the strength to do it. A spiritually malnourished Christian will not endure long when faced with deceit and temptation.
Growing Takes Commitment
2 Peter 3:18 (NKJV) commands us,
"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen."
Growth is not optional. It's an expectation. We are called to grow — and growth requires daily nourishment through God's word.
Imagine someone complaining, "I don’t understand why I’m so physically weak," and then discovering they haven't eaten food in days. Would we be surprised at their weakness? Of course not! Physical strength requires regular, nourishing meals.
The same principle applies spiritually.
If we only take in a few scattered verses on Sunday morning — the equivalent of a few crumbs once a week — should we really be shocked when we are spiritually weak? If we fed our bodies the way we sometimes feed our spirits, we’d be in the hospital!
Consistency Changes Everything
James Watkins once said:
"Spend 30 minutes a day for 30 days in God's word and you will be a changed person."
This is a simple but profound truth. God's word transforms.
Spending daily, meaningful time in Scripture strengthens your heart, trains your mind, and equips you to stand firm when challenges come.
Psalm 119:105 (NKJV) says,
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
Without God’s word, we stumble in darkness. With His word, we walk securely.
Finding Our Strength in His Word
If we want to be spiritually strong, faithful, and able to resist the schemes of Satan, we must prioritize feeding our souls daily with the word of God.
Get the Word of God into your daily life — not just a smattering, but real, consistent meals from Scripture.
If you do, you’ll find strength, wisdom, and endurance you didn’t know you had — because it won’t be your strength. It will be God working through you.
"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." — Matthew 4:4 (NKJV)
This goes with what I feel God has been speaking to me with From Hidden to Harvest! Very good!
I’m fixing to preach a series of 4 to 5 sermons on the Holy Spirit over the next month or so. So I have been praying & hope of spiritual growth (2 Peter 3:18 & Heb. 5:12-14) by way of (Romans 10:17), that transformation (Romans 12:1-3), helps internally for manifested external glory of the kingdom locally for its continued growth.
