To the first question—"So what place does the Holy Spirit have in this tale?"
The Holy Spirit plays a vital role in the conversion and sanctification of a believer. According to Scripture, the Holy Spirit is given after obedience to the gospel. In Acts 2:38 (NKJV), Peter clearly says:
“Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
This verse shows the pattern: belief, repentance, baptism for the forgiveness of sins, and then the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is not given simply because we ask Jesus into our hearts—it is a gift God gives after we obey His terms, not before.
To the second comment—"You can do both..."
I appreciate your sincerity and desire to follow Jesus. I agree that we are called to repent and that Jesus must guide and empower us through the Holy Spirit. However, the phrase “invite Jesus into your heart” is not found in Scripture as a step to salvation. We never see anyone being saved by a simple invitation to Jesus to come into their heart.
What we do see is people believing, repenting, confessing, and being baptized for the forgiveness of their sins (Acts 2:38, Acts 8:35–38, Acts 22:16). That’s when they entered into Christ (Romans 6:3-4, Galatians 3:27) and received the Spirit (Galatians 4:6).
The danger in teaching that one is saved by “inviting Jesus into your heart” is that it bypasses God’s actual instructions. It offers a false assurance without true obedience. Jesus said in John 14:15,
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
We ought to love Him enough to follow His pattern, not man’s. The Holy Spirit is not ignored—He is the seal and helper of the faithful—but He is received according to God’s will, not by man-made methods.
I share all of this out of love and a genuine desire for truth. As I always try to make clear, my goal is never to win arguments or tear anyone down. The purpose of my Substack is simply to share what I believe Scripture teaches. I truly appreciate all comments—whether in agreement or disagreement—because they help foster thoughtful discussion. For those who are sincerely seeking truth, seeing different perspectives can be a valuable part of the process, especially when it leads us all back to the Bible to examine what God actually says.
I’m still learning but I’m struggling with the fact money was stolen on J6 and then used to harm us to launder money and create exploits through AWS - the false churches are in America because it’s pagan and they use the gospel as a business for profit making everyone their suffering servant with the ultimate agenda to abandon the flock for the land of Israel for some false Millennial Kingdom. Why would God want them to sacrifice their own people? I love God too and I’m hurting over how no one even cares that we were all put on the Judas Iscariot system to feed Judas Goats into progressive slavery and unsustainable debt to pay off while the world is depopulated for this ultimate agenda. It’s satanic
Exactly. You can do both. You can repent and invite Jesus into your heart to guide your path and empower you. It’s not that complicated. The Holy Spirit lives inside of us.
